May 31, 2009:
Trail Ride at Stratford Hall Plantation
Sponsored by the Virginia Horse Council and the Virgina Quarter Horse Association
- This special ride will offer both morning and afternoon routes that will be marked so that you can ride at your own pace. Lunch will be provided by Stratford Hall.
Stratford Hall Plantation was the home of four generations of the Lee family of Virginia. Step back to the 1700’s and ride the trails with General Robert E. Lee as you ride the magnificent trails of this plantation. Ride over the working farm that is much the same as it was in the eighteenth century.
Enjoy the spectacular view of the Potomac River from the cliffs. Look for the ever present wildlife that abounds here, including the majestic bald eagle. Step back in time to an unhurried time as you ride past the Mill where corn was ground or past the Devon cattle that were original to the plantation.
For more information about Stratford Hall visit their website. The event is open to all breeds and both member and non-members of the VHC and VQHA.
